Meet Our Therapists

Amanda Gray, MA, LPCS, NCC

Mrs. Gray founded AGCS in April 2014, after serving as a counselor at Brazos Valley Community Action Agency,  MHMR authority of Brazos Valley, and Harmony Science Academy for 5 years. She defined the corporations mission to reach and serve as many citizens in the community as possible, helping them heal from the past, define a secure sense of self, master healthy relationships, and fulfill life purpose.

In 2015, Mrs. Gray became a LPC Supervisor, allowing her to mentor and supervise LPC Associates and associates through their practicum and internships. She has brought on 6 providers carefully selected providers to the team to serve the community in a greater capacity. She has also secured the most perfect location for the practice, directly in the middle of Bryan College Station on two wooded acres secluded from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Amanda holds a bachelor of arts in psychology and a minor in business at Texas A&M University as well as a masters of arts in counseling from Sam Houston State University, and a supervision title from University of Texas Arlington. She has specialized experience in trauma informed care, CBT, DBT, ACT, EMDR, Attachment, Play therapy, Sand Tray therapy and animal assisted therapy.

Mrs. Gray's focus has shifted somewhat from being fully dedicated to seeing clients to providing supervision and consultation to other providers with the goal of cultivating stellar mental health providers to serve our community at a larger scale.

Courtney Cassle, MS, LPC, NCC
 

Courtney Cassle joined AGCS back in September 2019 as an LPC associate. As of January 2022 Ms. Cassle completed her 3000 hours of supervised experience and has been promoted within our corporation as a Licensed Professional Counselor. We are thrilled to have her stay on our team!

Courtney attended school at Texas A&M University and Abilene Christian University. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology as well as a Masters of Science in Counseling. Additionally, she has met all standards to hold a professional counseling license in the state of Texas.

​

Since then, she has received specialized training in the following areas:

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Courtney's unique life experiences and trainings have molded her into the exceptional LPC Associate she is today. She works with adolescents ages 12+ and adults.

Alyssa Slack, MA, NCC, LPC 
 

Alyssa Slack is a Licensed Professional Counseling Associate under the supervision of Amanda Gray, MS, LPCS, NBCC.  She joined the AGCS team in August of 2021. 

​

Alyssa attended school at Texas A&M University and Sam Houston State University. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and a minor in Psychology from SHSU. Additionally, she has met all standards to hold a professional counseling associate license in the state of Texas. 

​

Since then, she has received training in the following areas: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, and Sand Tray. She works mainly with children as well as adolescents and young adults. 

​

"I use CBT to help people become more aware of their negative interpretations and behavioral patterns and help them develop alternative ways of thinking and behaving to reduce their psychological distress. I also utilize Sand Tray, Person-Centered Therapy, and Play Therapy with children. 

​

As a counselor, I hope to facilitate for my client's greater self-awareness through their life experiences that lead to increased confidence, self-esteem, independence, mental health, and the capacity to effectively navigate the complex challenges of life."

Chandra Lewis , MA LPC Associate

Mrs. Lewis joined the AGCS team initially as a practicum student during her master's program, shadowing therapists and observing the ways of private practice. She completed her Masters and met all requirements to become a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate March 2022. At that point we were thrilled to have her stay on board as a LPC Associate under the supervision of Amanda Gray, MA, LPCS. We look forward to being a part of Mrs. Lewis' growth and the difference she makes in client's lives. Chandra completed her master's work at the University of Houston, Victoria. She has had further experience and training in cognitive behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy. 

 

Life can sometimes throw some challenges our way where we need some help and guidance to get through it. We've all been there. it's okay to not be okay with all that's going on in the world and I would like to commend you for taking the first step towards helping yourself! Depression, anxiety, and trauma are areas that interest me. I am also interested in helping clients who suffer from chronic illness. I have a chronic illness of my own and would like to help others who suffer from t hose since they can be very challenging. I want to provide you with a place that makes you feel safe and able to be yourself.

Mary Walker, LPC Associate
Supervised by Amanda Gray, MA, LPCS, NBCC

Mary Walker is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision of Amanda Gray, MA, LPCS, NBCC and Leigh Muths, MA, LPCS. She joined the AGCS team in November of 2022.

 

Mary attended school at Sam Houston State University and Stephen F. Austin State University. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Sociology from SHSU along with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from SFASU.

 

“I have experience providing counseling services to children, adolescents, and adults with varying needs at the SFASU Counseling Clinic, ACCESS MHMR, and GDI Enterprises. My approach to helping a client incorporates Person-Centered and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. A top priority of mine is to create a warm, non-judgmental environment in order to facilitate a client's authentic self and a strong therapeutic alliance. Working together to create mindful experiences and learning to process the message of internal experiences would be an honor of mine.”

Alexis Nevarez-Cooper, LPC Associate
Supervised by Amanda Gray, MA, LPCS NBCC

Alexis Nevarez-Cooper is a Licensed Professional Counseling Associate and joined the AGCS team in September of 2023. She graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.A. in Sociology and a minor in Latino/a Mexican American Studies. She obtained an M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Houston-Victoria (UHV) and met all requirements to be an LPC Associate and National Certified Counselor. Alexis has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults through her training and internships with the UHV Counseling Training Clinic and Texas A&M’s counseling services. She has skills using approaches in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and will be gaining additional skills in Play Therapy.

My philosophy as a counselor is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for clients and meet you where you are in the therapeutic process. I recognize how each person is unique in their lived experiences, and that understanding the dynamics of each person enables me to aid in their mental wellbeing. I believe the client is the expert in their lives and by utilizing guidance, support, and empowerment, I can collaborate with the client to aid in the change of their mental health and in reaching their goals”.

Norman Peter, RABS RCM, Medical Billing Manager

 

Norman Peter is our expert medical billing manager. He began his career in medical billing in 2016. Since his start, he has joined RABS RCM, LLC, the best medical billing service company in the United States. 

​

Mr. Peter joined AGCS just this May and we are thrilled to have him. He, along with RABS, will manage all of our billing, claims processing, claims reconciliation, credentialing and enrollment so that our providers can focus solely on providing quality therapy for our clients.

Bailey, Therapy Dog
​

Bailey received her obedience training through Don Sullivan "The Dog Father" and founder of The Perfect Dog. She shares a similar passion for helping others and has been doing so with the practice since 2014.

 

She joins in session upon patient request and provides comfort and support. She is hypoallergenic and obedience trained. Bailey loves working and is very friendly with each patient. 

​

Bailey is currently receiving further training in animal assisted play therapy with Dr. Rise Vanfleet, PHD, RPTS, CDBC, at the International Instituted for Animal Assisted Play Therapy.
